I am thinking it would be good to get a certification over the summer.

I am lost when it comes to this. Searching the net yielded this: http://certification.comptia.org/default.aspx

How do I find a location to take a certification test??

Are there other places besides comptia.org?

Thank you all in advance.

Really depends on what kind of certification you want. If you are new to IT, and want a hardware cert, take the A+ from CompTIA (the easiest test I ever took). CompTIA also offers a Linux certification, BUT...I would go for the Linux Professional Institute's certification (www.lpi.org). Of course Microsoft has certifications (http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/default.mspx). Cisco has em (http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/index.html).

Like I said, it all depends on what you want, and which direction you want your career to go.

Right now, I have A+, Network+, MCSE, CCNA, CCVP, and serveral other vendor certifications. I am studying for the LPIC now.

As far as testing locations go, one site you can go through to schedule exams is Pearson Vue (http://www.vue.com/) (click on "Information Technology" in the left list and the right list will refresh with specific vendors). You can search for a test location there (or by click here (http://www.vue.com/servlet/vue.web2.core.Dispatcher?application=VTCLocator&action=actStartApp&v=W2L&cid=119) <- test locations for taking CompTIA exams).

I'm studying for my Linux+ right now, but plan on taking the Linux tests through LPI (as mentioned above) also. LPI has an Ubuntu "add-on" certification too, so that's a plus for us Ubuntu lovers heh
