Hi; I was happily running Gutsy until last Saturday, when the update manager told me that Hardy was out, so I did the upgrade through that. After some lengthy downloads, it took care of everything and then rebooted... only to lock up. The problem appears to be with the SATA disk... I get two errors on the boot partition device, and then an infinite loop of errors on the second partition device. I don't know if anyone else has seen this. For some reason, my boot menu now has four entries for Hardy (one with kernel 2.24 and one with 2.26, plus the recovery for each and the MemTest, and Windows XP. The older kernel will come up and run OK (well, it did the one time I tried it).

I only have one, roughly 250G hard drive that is split between Windows and Ubuntu.

I am making some guesses about the kernel numbers, as I'm not on the Ubuntu machine.

The other relevant piece of information is that I had installed KDE on Gutsy, and it was my default X session.
