View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.04 Administrator Issues

Just installed 8.04 over 7.10 using the gnome package updater. Generally looks good but appears to be a problem with administration access. If I try to use a sudo command in terminal, I get this:

dad@daddad-desktop:~$ sudo
sudo: unable to resolve host daddad-desktop
dad@daddad-desktop:~$

Also:

- package updater appears to hang when I check for updates
- can't look at hardware drivers under Administration ("Administrative
Process" button opens on status bar but then dies)
- can't open either Envy or nvidia GUI toolbox.

Any help on what happened here? Feels like system is refusing administrator access.

Thanks.

Chris
