Hey,

I just noticed I've become a VIP member. Now's a good time for introducing myself.

I'm from the Netherlands. I'm 24 years old. I study Artificial Intelligence. We AI'ers like to make life easier. Ubuntu fits in this thinking paradigm.

During the christmas break I hope to make Ubuntu my main OS. (I have to lend some external harddisks of my friends and do a lot of backupping of my raid-array)

I'll focus my contributing efforts on :

* discussing how to make Ubuntu more usable for average-desktop-users.

I have already started some threads about this. I don't claim I know everything about average-desktop-users but I do think discussion is needed about how to make Ubuntu easier for them without sacrificing power.

Longhorn-like features that Ubuntu needs

ubuntu ready for end-users?

* discussing, designing and coding a few simple applications that will make Ubuntu even easier for the average-desktop-user (and for the nerds who will probably need to install and configure such a system)

I can program. But I've never programmed a real user oriented application. Please help me design the UI's. Of course you will :).

easy GUI based custom ubuntu cd creation tool

probably I'll try to integrate waih in some way in this custom cd creation tool
(going to discuss with Nis about this)

waih: Warty After Install Helper

Please PM me if you want to help me code/design these two app's.

How do you become a VIP member? Do you have to be a programmer or something?

Oh and see if you can get everyone at the AI lab to make their password "enter" RMS style :p ...

I'm just a student/nerd I don't have any money or influence in the real world. That's why I come here ;)

I'm only contributing posts on the forum. I received a mail that they liked my contribution and made me VIP.

So just contribute to the community :).
