Hey,
I just noticed I've become a VIP member. Now's a good time for introducing myself.
I'm from the Netherlands. I'm 24 years old. I study Artificial Intelligence. We AI'ers like to make life easier. Ubuntu fits in this thinking paradigm.
During the christmas break I hope to make Ubuntu my main OS. (I have to lend some external harddisks of my friends and do a lot of backupping of my raid-array)
I'll focus my contributing efforts on :
* discussing how to make Ubuntu more usable for average-desktop-users.
I have already started some threads about this. I don't claim I know everything about average-desktop-users but I do think discussion is needed about how to make Ubuntu easier for them without sacrificing power.
Longhorn-like features that Ubuntu needs

ubuntu ready for end-users?
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=6996
* discussing, designing and coding a few simple applications that will make Ubuntu even easier for the average-desktop-user (and for the nerds who will probably need to install and configure such a system)
I can program. But I've never programmed a real user oriented application. Please help me design the UI's. Of course you will :).
