View Full Version : [ubuntu] Change behaviour of cursor in Hary Heron

I like the new Ubuntu 8.04 - I think I can finally dump windows in favor of it. In Windows XP, when I click on the address or search bar in either Firefox or Opera, the text that is already there is automatically highlighted. So for example, I can right-click and paste an address into the address bar without having to first highlight the existing address (by double-clicking it). But in Ubuntu 8.04, clicking on the address or search bar in Opera or Firefox merely places the cursor in the bar at that point. The text has to be highlighted manually if I want to replace it. Is there a way to change this behaviour?

Thanks,
Randy

There is a setting in Firefox, but I can't recall what it is. You type about:config in the address bar, hit Enter, and change a setting there. As a temporary workaround, you can double-click in the address bar and it will highlight it completely. Someone else will know the setting in about:config.

Good luck.

To change the location bar you need to type about:config and then change "browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll" to true. I'm not sure about the search box.

Thanks for the help, guys. That took care of the address bar in Firefox, does anyone know about the search bar in Firefox and/or how to change this in Opera?

Thanks,
Randy
