howdy,
I have tried to upgrade to hardy twice with the same results. At the end of the upgrade it is freezing with the following showing at the terminal.

setting up Language-support-translation-en (1:8.04+20080407)

EN.AU.UTF-8.... up-to-date
EN.BW.UTF-8.... up-to-date
EN.CA.UTF-8.... up-to-date
EN.DK.UTF-8....

All is frozen. If I reboot I will not be able to boot into gutsy or hardy.
First time I reinstalled gutsy performed all updates and tried again with same result (the def of insanity). I would like to try to recover if possible without an entire reinstall.

Thanks, Gary

Can you boot into recovery mode, or Gnome-failsafe option? If you can get in any way at all, try changing your main repository to one of the US mirrors (I live out west, and like easynews). Then update and upgrade via terminal. Might work, might not.

Howdy, I was able to complete the install but have a few issues to correct. I will post these fresh as the thread title should change. I will mark this solved though I reinstalled to solve
