Hardy upgrade: reinstall applications

Hi everyone,

I know it is a very dumb question. But if I upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy, will I have to reinstall all the applications I had installed under Gutsy?

Some do, some don't. It depends on whether some apps will just break due to requiring dependencies that depend on lower versions so you could have a whole tree of apps removed, or just 1 if you're lucky. I had 100 packages removed when I upgraded. Apps like VLC were removed.

I think I'll wait a bit then. I don't really have time to debug things at the moment, but wanted to use Kile 2. Nothing urgent.
