Just upgraded to 8.04 and was wondering if there's a way to import all the email and contacts from my thunderbird in windows to ubuntu?

I noticed when setting up thunderbird that it gave an opportunity to import however it didn't find anything for it to import.

thanks

Are you talking about Mozilla Thunderbird? I had done this some times and worked for me.

In windows by default your thunderbird local mail folders will be stored under C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\<some profile name>\Mail\

Just copy those folders to mail folder in ".thunderbird" in your home dir in ubuntu.

Thunderbird has a interplatform format. You can just share the same data between win and linux(if you plan to keep a multiboot Machine).

If you plan on deleting windows completely you have to do what HAriprs said.

i found this useful for data sharing:
