Ok, i have a home router and cannot connect to it using ubuntu 8.04 [all updates installed] i have scanned and no networks show up, but it works fine in windows. I have the low end wireless card included with Dell Inspiron 1520. Is this a driver problem or an Ubuntu issue? Please help, i really want to switch entirely to Ubuntu, but cannot without internet working in ubuntu.

have you checked the restricted drivers? system->administration->restricted drivers .. make sure they are enabled

Hi.
Do you have the Dell Wireless 1395 card? You need to use a Windows driver and ndiswrapper to get it working! See my post in this thread here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=772406&highlight=inspiron+1520
