View Full Version : [ubuntu] Error message - cannot find appropriate cd

So I've successfully downloaded ubuntu and burned it to a cd.

I changed my bios boot sequence to read cdrom as the first item.

Every time I restart my machine windows starts up instead of ubuntu.

When trying to run the bootcd.exe within windows from the cd (files are viewable on the cd and I can open them) I get an error message "cannot find appropriate cd".

I've scoured the net for this error message and can't find anything.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

At first glance, it sounds like you might not have burned your downloaded Linux onto CD as an "ISO Image". You have to do that in order to add the bootable track to the CD.

Your CD burner program should have an option to make an "ISO Image" type CD. It may be called "ISO 9660" or something else with "ISO" in the name.
