View Full Version : Tomboy xforwarding over SSH - BAD! Very bad!

I'm still bummed there isn't one good alternative to Tomboy on Windows

(For my PC at work, I use Stickynotes, but it's dreadful. And they take the post-it part of a note way toos erious)

So, I decided to try Tomboy out using Xforwarding through an SSH tunnel - brilliant idea! It worked fast enough, I had easy access to all my notes, wonderful!

I made lots and lots of progress, and around every big change I saw a "Saving note..." debug message. When I completely closed it it even said "saving unsaved notes" - a dream!

I came home and discovered that NOTHING was saved. EVERY change I made was gone! I looked in the .tomboy folder for missing files, I looked in the tmp folder, I even tried to reconnect to Tomboy using another computer over SSH to see if that would somehow magically change anything, it didn't..

So I guess this is a warning to anyone else who tries to use Tomboy over SSH (which is only me, probably, but still!)

Yes, I think you are the only one.
