I set up Hardy with no problems and finally decided that this was the time I wouldn't load back into windows. 4 days with no problem and then I added the mythtv frontend through the synaptic package manager.
Obviously it didn't work as there was no backend (should not have done this blindly). I am not sure if this is what caused it, but the next time I restarted the PC and it wont load into gnome properly after the login screen(with mythtv countdown).
It just loads a black screen and then after a while a small white box loads in the top right corner with the (working) cursor turning into a text selection pointer.
Nothing else happens.
any ideas what could have caused this and how I can fix it without reinstalling?
