System crash when Totem is in fullscreen

I did a clean install of xubuntu 8.04. When I play movies in totem and pressed "F", totem goes to fullscreen mode and then the system freezes. Cant get to tty. Cannot logout by ctrl+alt+backspace. Keyboard does not respond. I had to do a hard restart.

Has anybody experienced this or knows any workarounds? I dont know how to reproduce and file a bug in launchpad. Please help. Thanks.

I had similar problem. Following the tricks in the following post, I installed "ubuntu-stricted-extras", and fixed the problem. Not sure if it will work for you, you may have a try
