I have Hardy on my MBP via VMware Fusion. However, I can't get the full 3D/Compiz working as VMware can't do this (unless I am missing something).

How can I have a full (Compiz and full 3D with the nVidia 8600 card) blown Hardy running on my MBP?

Will Parallels allow this? Or would bootcamp work?

no VM supports 3D acceleration under linux, so only a native install will get you this. See the guide here:
