Upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04

Hi...

I was doing an upgrade in the update manager and everything seemed to be going smoothly. When i restarted my computer, i chose 8.04 in Grub and the typical ubuntu loading screen came up, and then the screen went black and text started appearing...

By the way, I'm somewhat new to linux so offer up advice using small words if possible :)

I had this same exact problem after upgrading last night. You could try the Alternate Installation disc (which you'll have to download separately) and boot up with that to repair your installation, but for me, the only way out was to do a clean reinstall of 7.10.

Hope you have better luck than I do. :)
