Hello,
When trying to install 8.04 the screen to setup the partitions (step 4 of 7 in the installation process) does not list any hard drives.
I had this same problem when I installed XP, Vista and Windows Server 2008 (not all at once, of course), though I was able to resolve it because the installer allowed me to grab the proper driver off of a USB drive during installation.
I am guessing it is the same problem, which would mean that it needs a driver for the drive controller. My motherboard is the Abit AB9 Pro, and I believe my drives are on its JMicron controller. I do have RAID currently disabled, for the moment.
They don't seem to even have a Linux driver - http://www.uabit.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=48&page=4&category=1&subcategory=1002&model=323&product_name=AB9+Pro - and I don't know where I would be able to supply it to the installer.
Has anyone had this problem? Thanks.
