I just wanted to get a few suggestions on how to get an Asterisk server up and running. A buddy of mine needs me to maintain one for his company and I am not very familar with it. Obviously I've got books to read but does anyone have a suggestion on how to get this setup.

To kind of give you an idea, we are going to be creating some scripts for an auto dialer that will call with a message. I just need to maintain the server remotely and make sure it stays up he can run his business.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Cheers

Trixbox = very stable, easy to maintain and configure. (CentOS based)

VoIP Providers = unpredictable...

I recommend taking this to the Trixbox forums and searching there, you'll get better results. Trixbox has web management for nearly every aspect of the system. Personally I like it best when used with Sangoma analog line cards.

Note that if you're looking to do telemarketing you probably won't get much help ;) It would be like posting to the Postfix list asking how to send spam...

I once met the developer of AstLinux (http://www.astlinux.org/) <-- that's a URL!

I was really impressed with his presentation. He doesn't seem to have a lot of documentation yet though...

The asterisk site has a link to an opensource O'Reilly book (http://www.asteriskdocs.org/) <-- also a link!

Edit: They must have fixed the invisible URL issue
