View Full Version : Why no *buntu DVD?

I would think it would be easier and maybe even cheaper if there was a generic *buntu dvd on shipit that had many versions of ubuntu.

4.7gb DVD can hold at least 6 Cds. Realistically, it could probably be streamlined more than that, but you could have all the stuff for Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu with both 32 and 64 bit options so you put in the CD and install any of them you want.

If it could be optomized, might could even include Fluxbuntu and the e17 one whose name I can't recall at the moment.

I think the reason they ship CDs is so that anyone can use them instead of just people with DVD-ROM drives. Though as a separate downloadable option I think this would be a really good idea, being able to install any of the Ubuntu versions from one DVD.
