Did a clean install of Ubuntu Hardy Heron on my old clamshell SE. I even managed to put Xcfe on it to least tax my 192 mb of ram.

Networked to my Vista box, surfed the net, and can even view video.

The only thing I CAN'T do so far is HEAR anything. hrm.

I've been surfing the forums for hours now and tried a bunch of different things, but so far, no dice.

Basically, it looks like my onboard soundcard is not being recognized.

Anyone have some suggestions?

EDIT: I'm not quite sure how I did it, but the problem is fixed!

Did you use a xubuntu disc? If so, where'd you get your iso? I can't find one.

I find that interesting that we'd be taken all the way up to an Xubuntu release candidate and then nothing.

No hard feelings to Xubuntu since everything is unofficial anwway. What you can do is install Ubuntu, and then install xubuntu-desktop, switch to it at your next login session, and then begin to trim down a bit such as removing OpenOffice, Evolution, any program that requires a lot of resources and substitute Thunderbird, etc..

I've used the xubunto 7.10 iso and then upgraded. But you have to put some stuff in at busybox to make it boot and work.
