I've been trying to do this for many weeks now. I go to the upgrade manager, and it says 7.10 is available. I click upgrade. I click upgrade again (to the agreement). it takes a while, and then after the preperation for upgrades is finished, it gives an error message:

Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/feisty-security/main/binary-i386/Packages.bz2 Sub-process bzip2 returned an error code (2)

any help? i would really like to get to 8.04 soon... :(

In synaptic, try deactivating feisty (7.04) security lines. Or try to use less overwhelmed servers for your upgrade.

The 2nd option could be better.
