I've never upgraded a system using a torrent download. You're downloading an ISO file, right?

If that's the case, how do you use it after burning it? I tried out an 8.04 RC cd on a friends 7.10 machine, and it asked if I wanted to start up package management. I did...but kinda got lost. I didn't know what to do from there. No explicit upgrade dialog appeared, so I didn't get the impression that I was doing it right...

Yeah, you need to download the alternate CD iso. You download it, burn it, and then stick it in the machine and it gives you an option to upgrade.
