I upgraded my 7.10 with 8.04 this weekend and it looks like it is not using my video card correctly... In 7.10 I had eye candy, and everything was fast and smooth, but in 8.04 (I tried both kernels) I get tearing when I move forms, and my music skips if I open or close something.

Anybody else try to use 8.04 with an ATI card yet?

I am running a dual boot with XP so I would prefer not to do a fresh install, but I guess I can if someone really thinks that is the issue.

Here are my particulars:

MB- ASUS P4S800D-X
CPU- P4 Prescott 3.4 GHz HT
VPU- ATI X1650 (AGP) by HIS
RAM- PC3200 512x2
HD- Maxtor SATA 150 250 GB

Do a clean install with the Alternate CD. Reconfigure your xserver at the end of the installation. You can use Envy to install your driver:http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html

I will take your advice into consideration, however I'd like to know if somebody has a similar VPU with 8.04 and does not have my problem. I'd hate to go through the trouble and have the same issue.
