Virtual Packages?

I'm just curious, is it common to have tons of "Virtual Packages"? I'm trying to install amarok but it's not even in the repositories and it's dependencies seem to be virtual packages.

Amarok is in the repos - if you haven't got the repos enabled you won't see them. Open software sources and enable universe, multiverse and restricted (if you want) there are 3rd party repos on that tab. Close and reload when it asks and look again.
