View Full Version : [ubuntu] No Video Prior To Ubuntu Install

Hi, I'm new to Linux.. I seem to have no video what so ever with Ubuntu its all black screen my monitors just go into power save mode, but however I had sound and linux was boothing up.. This is odd, Any Ideas? My specs are below.. Please help :(


AMD64 3200+ stock settings no oc
MSI K8N Neo2-F Nforce 3 Ultra
2GB of DDR Memory stock settings no oc
ATI Raedon x1950 Pro AGP no oc
Western Digital 250 GB HD Sata2
and 2 Dell 2407WFP Monitors


Note: I have VMware'd my burn of the cd and it ran fine.. So the copy of ubuntu 8.0.4 is fine

Go to BIOS and try to set AGP aperture size to 512MB. You should be able then to login ubuntu with fglrx driver. I have Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB AGP made by HIS, and i had to do it also, but it is just workaround and i hope for some real solution soon.
Now i have problem with flickering OpenGL display :mad:
