upgrade and OOorg

I can't seem to be able to download Hardy via the Update Manager. The download window shows up, but it doesn't download. I'm thinking maybe the servers are too busy, and will try later, but one question for now:

I'm using a version of OpenOffice that I've downloaded from their website, rather than the one that came with the Ubuntu package.

Question: do I have to re-install the packaged version of OO in order to be able to upgrade to Hardy?

Yes, IIRC, the upgrade needs the ubuntu-desktop package to be installed and this one must be removed to install the official version of OOo. Try to reinstall the ubuntu-desktop package.
