I have a Compaq Presario V5000 laptop with Conexant AC-Link Audio on a dual-boot XP/Ubuntu 7.10 configuration. I've never gotten my actual sound card to work under Ubuntu. It a Conexant AC-Link Audio which used their camc6aud.sys driver.
If I go to Device Manager, my audio shows as ATI Technologies IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller with ALSA and OSS control. When I open Audacity, that's what comes up; ALSA or OSS devices. I get sound out of my speakers, and can play music, but in Audacity I can't record sound being played (such as sounds off the Internet. I can do that in Windows using the AUX option, but that option is not available in Ubuntu.
How can I get Ubuntu to recognize my Conexant audio device and drivers?
