Hi, I'm very new to ubuntu in fact tried 7.10 and did get it to work on laptop but didn't get round to getting wireless networking working. Then put XP disk back in and haven't looked at it for a while, now cant remember username /pswd.
Anyway the laptop is old its just a PIII 600Mhz with 368Mb memory on a 10Gig hard drive so old stuff. Only really want it for surfing with firefox. I have downloaded 8.04 desktop and burned it 3 times to CD using nero or Infra express on slowest speed. Started to install over the top of 7.10 and got splash screen and selected install. All seems to be going well eventually get a orange background with a Heron on it. But it has been like that for about the last 1.5hrs the CD rom is thrashing about and the HD led is flashing.
So any idea how long an installation should take?
