Vertical elongation after upgrading from 7.10 to 8.04

Hi -

I just upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04. Things mostly worked, but I've had one peculiar side effect -- everything seems vertically elongated on my screen. Note that this is not just text fonts -- the mouse pointer is also elongated, things that used to be circles (like smileys or the mouse pointer while waiting) are now ovals. Xterms are now taller than they used to be.

Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone have advice on how to deal with this?

Well, I figured out the problem -- for some reason the screen resolution got reset to something weird during the upgrade. Don't know why it happened, but the obvious solution was to set it back...
