On april 24, I attempted to update my computer one more time before upgrading to hardy heron. However, upon attempting, the updates stopped on "downloading package information" at 33 of 43 files. I had to hit cancel to get it out of the screen. Upon hitting cancel, this message came up:

Could not download all repository indexes

The repository might be no longer available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and the correct writing of the repository address in the preferences.

Lots of people are having this issue (myself included). Though I haven't seen or heard anything official, it pretty much appears to be that Ubuntu 8.04 is one of the hottest things going on the internet right now.

Which, if true, means that the servers are getting positively hammered.

I'm going to give it 'til Monday before I start to worry about it. It is kinda disheartening to think that there may be numerous people trying out Ubuntu for the first time and now the repositories/updates appear to be "broken" due to the influx of traffic.
