Installation Trouble with Google Desktop

I'm having the same issues as listed above with GD. Here is what I get:

sudo dpkg --purge google-desktop-linux
dpkg: error processing google-desktop-linux (--purge):
Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should
reinstall it before attempting a removal.
Errors were encountered while processing:
google-desktop-linux
