I just started getting into Ruby On Rails and realized that it's a pain to find recently updated tutorials. I have read that the tutorials made for versions prior to 2.0 do not work correctly. As a new rails user I would really like to start out with great tutorials that are up to date, detailed, and more than a couple of pages. If you know of any great links to post please do so. Thanks!

Thanks, but yes I have tried that one before. I also have completed a similar tutorial where you create a mini bookstore application. The frustrating part is where you have to wait for further updates :(. This is why I'd like a more complete tutorial, or possibly the name of a really good book I can purchase. Thanks again.

They are coming out with "Agile Web Development with Rails, Third Edition". This will cover everything 2.0. The reason you will not find a lot of 2.0 tutorials is simple, the hype died down.

I have seen this site before, as linked from the rubyonrails.com site. Unfortunately the book won't be complete until October 2008 :(. Thanks for explaining why there is a total lack of tutorials out there.

Dear comrade,

I learnt ROR from Akita at http://www.akitaonrails.com/2007/12/12/rolling-with-rails-2-0-the-first-full-tutorial.

I just bought Agile Web Development with Rails 2nd edition in early April and managed to go to Chapter 9.1 with the shopping cart on the 15th of April. I used Ruby 2.0 and stopped there because I could not solve a screen jammed with the cart information in the column.

I asked a similar question here like what you did 2 months ago. If you have problems with ROR go to http://www.ruby-forum.com/. They have very helpful and dedicated people like Fred Cheung to answer questions if you don't ask stupid questions.

Thanks a lot. I did end up getting the 3rd edition in beta form. It's not fully complete but it is still a copy of the 2nd edition with the first few chapters updated for 2.0. I didn't know about that Ruby forum so thanks for pointing it out.

I already have Akita's site saved on my bookmarks. I already watched his screencast and realized he's like a super genius when it comes to Ruby.
