in firefox, when i open this page:

http://reddit.com/r/programming/info/6h27v/comments/

if i have the liberation-font installed, and msttcorefonts not,
i get this:

http://www.nekomancer.net/tmp/liberation.png

if i have msttcorefonts installed, i get this:

http://www.nekomancer.net/tmp/msttcorefonts.png

as far as i know, the liberation-font is meant to be of the same size as the arial font.. but it does not seems so in firefox.

any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

this is a clean ubuntu-hardy install, amd64, gnome set to 86dpi (the native resolution of my monitor).

thanks,
gabor

That page looks like it's in Verdana, not Arial. Verdana's noticeably bigger than Arial, so it's likely to look bigger than Liberation Sans as well.

ok, but it still does not change the situation. maybe i described the problem the wrong way, let me reformulate:

as far as i know, the liberation-font is meant to be of the same size as the microsoft-core-fonts.. but it does not seems so in firefox.
