Installed VirtualBox OSE + kernel modules, rebooted, got safe graphics mode only, did sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg and rebooted again, got my resolution back but no sound. Now the Device dropdown menu in Sound Preferences - Default Mixer Tracks is empty. Removed VirtualBox + its kernel modules and reinstalled the usual kernel packages, reinstalled nvidia-glx-new, no results. How'd I get my sound back?
