im currently trying to run linux inside windows.
everytime i restart my computer to try and get into ubuntu, it gives me an error with something about;
kernal
APIC
Apic=debug
NOAPIC
not being able to sync
kernel panic!

thats all part of the 1 error btw. Ive tried installing it by mounting it and by booting off CD - ive tried reinstalling 5 times. its always the same error. I have no idea what to do from here.

I read a few topics about something similiar to this and they mentioned editing the kernel something. So, i did and i managed to login - however i couldnt gain access to internet. nothing on my HD was accessible and nothing could be changed. I have an AMD dual core with the 8600 GT and i downloaded the ubuntu desktop 8.04 for standard personal computer here;

I am getting the same thing. Just installed x86 version of 8.04. It gave me it while I was trying to install but I bypassed with noapic but I cannot get any command line changes I make in GRUB to stick so I cannot boot into the OS :(

Motherboard: DFI LANPARTY UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 4800+ 2.5Ghz
Memory: 2GB DDR2 800
Video Card: PNY Geforce 8800GTS 640MB
Sound Card: Sound Blaster PCI 4.1

BIOS on MB is as far as I know fully up to date but DFI's site seems to be having some java problems so I cannot varify. Haven't installed any version of linux on this box before so I don't know if this is an Ubuntu 8.04 exclusive problem.

Any help would be amazing... I miss Ubuntu :(
