Resetting KDE4 Desktop Effects

I enabled desktop effects in KDE4, now after login, my screen is just black. How do I go about resetting the desktop effects so they are disabled?

logout graphical session and login to console session and apply case 4 in post http://alok.fossguru.in/content/resetting-settings-applications-linux

also try to create a new user and login with that user. You can Ctrl+Alt+F2 to go to command prompt, and then user useradd to add a new user.
