Hi all,

I have a partition with Vista on it that has about 100GB free space. Can I install Ubuntu 8.04 safely with the Wubi installer without affecting any of the data on my Vista partition or without installing custom bootloaders to the MBR? Is Wubi completely safe?

Thanks

Yes it's safe.

It will install to a directory within the NTFS partition you destignate, then it adds a single line to the boot.ini file to call GRUB.

No Vista data will be affected. Just free space required, it's IS that simple.

Good Luck!

Cool, thanks! One last question, does Wubi have dynamic resizing disk files to put the install in so the more data you put in the bigger it gets, or do you have to specify a fixed size for the disk file?
