I've updated to Hardy so that I can update to Gutsy. The first upgrade seemed to go well, but when I rebooted it ran into trouble. I lost the ability to use sudo, but was able to fix that by reading the comments in a Bug #195308.

Now I'm trying to upgrade to Gutsy and it refuses. First it tells me that a partial upgrade is needed. However, attempting this leads to the message:

"
Can not upgrade

A upgrade from 'hardy to 'gutsy' is not supoprted with this tool."

(The spelling is incorrect in the prompt, not a typo here)

I tried searching but can't find anything relevant. I'm running x86_64. Thanks.

Hardy is the newer release....

Therefore, you cannot update to Gutsy (older release)...

I'm actually trying to upgrade to Hardy, making that message all the more puzzling. Not sure why I wrote Gutsy above, probably because i keep getting errors about it.

I'm trying a dist-upgrade now based on something I found on google. Maybe this will fix.

I'm getting the same error message myself
