streaming audio out of USB ports

Hello all. I would like to stream audio out of my USB ports. Is this possible and how can I do this?

Stream it to what?

A USB port doesn't handle sound. It handles devices. If you want sound output, get a USB sound card. The sound blaster is a popular choice.

Alright then. I was hoping I could stay away from a sound card and just stream the the raw audio out into an amp or something. If that's not possible is there software to emulate a sound card via USB port?
