:mad:Three days ago I installed 8.04RC and now I am trying to upgrade it it to 8.04, but I cannot get access to a mirror to do the minor upgrade. In fact my Firefox still indicates that it is a beta and not the full version--in fact most of my software indicates it is a beta version. Is something wrong with the RC to full version updater or is the mirrors that jammed.:mad:

Man, lesson learned. NEVER try to upgrade. I never succeed on that. Always install fresh.

I installed the RC on the 23rd and then turned around and upgraded. I had no problems. I knew that if I waited until the 24th I would never get it.

I am not sure if you can use torrents to upgrade from 8.04 RC to 8.04,
If that works, then try the torrent file. See http://ptcbus.blogspot.com/2008/04/upgrading-from-ubuntu-710-gutsy-gibbon.html

Firefox will be a beta until May or June, I forget which. If you want Firefox 2.0.0.14 install it in add/remove programs.

How can I tell if my Ubuntu is the RC or not? Shouldn't updates tell me if there is an upgrade from RC to final?

If you keep updating you will be on the final release.

edit: use this command to check the version
cat /etc/lsb-release
