It needs to be installed. It's called 'Advanced Desktop Effects Settings' from add/remove programs.

in Add/Remove programs try displaying All Available Programs instead of just the supported ones by going to the top of the window and clicking on the drop down menu and selecting All Available Programs.

Should be in the Add/Remove Applications if not you can always try the terminal

Alternately, if you prefer to use a command line, run this:

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

I don't think it's called xine player. Pretty sure its called gxine and it should be available in the Add/Remove Applications.

The message it is giving you (E: Couldn't find package xineplayer) just means that there is no package with that name. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a single package that you can apt-get. Fortunately, I found a guide (http://www.ubuntugeek.com/install-xine-multimedia-player-in-ubuntu.html) that will hopefully help in your efforts to install Xine.

You could also open synaptic and look for gxine, xine, "totem-xine" (not sure about totem xine.
