Ok, this is probably answered in the FAQs, but to be perfectly honest, my wife is mad that I wiped the PC to install ubuntu, and am now unable to get it working, so forgive me for looking for a quick answer.

I'm running the install DVD for 7.10, and every time it gets to '82% - scanning the mirror' it just stops.

Please help!

In case it's just trying to download files from the main server, turn off wireless, and it will skip it during the installation. Right now the servers are pretty much down due to everybody downloading.. If this is not the problem, check the CD for issues. It's also recommended to use a CD for the Ubuntu isos.

yea, maybe I should tell you about my setup - I'm installing from the ubuntu dvd i bought from amazon (new), connected through a linksys wired router. would this just be a problem with the connection?

oh, and checked disc - no errors

Yes, the installer might be trying to download language files and such, but as said, the main server is probably down so it's just trying to connect forever.
