Hi there,

I've been trying to use LiveCDs from both Gutsy Gibbon and Hardy Heron, only to end up with this happening:

I've burned both ISO files to a CD-R, DVD-R, and DVD-RW, using the lowest burn settings, in three different burners. The discs work fine in my Acer laptop (on which hardy is already installed :) ), but no luck with my Compaq desktop. And I've tried with ACPI turned on and off. Same result.

My system specs are: HP IDE DVD-RAM, LiteOn IDE DVD-RW, x2 Western Digital 160GB IDE HDD, 2GB PC2700 RAM, Celeron D 2.66GHz CPU, ATI x1300 GFX, Hauppauge HVR-1600, Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer.

I'm not dead set on actually installing Ubuntu on this system. I just want to use the live environment so I can get a feel for things on this machine, before deciding on making things permanent.

Thanks!

Never mind, I got it fixed. Turns out it was my graphics card. Took it out, restart, boot disc, beautiful heron desktop. Haha.

I see that you have the Hauppauge HVR-1600. Is it functioning? I just bought one and it looks like there is no support for getting it going. So I'm looking for a few success stories. Or I'll return it.
