hi,
i was wondering is there a way to run opera browser on Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit?
on the website of opera the .deb package is for i386 architecture and i couldn't find for 64bit (probably there isn't)

You're right, there isn't, but there is an alpha of version 9.5 x64 in development.

Hi and I install Opera from here
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OperaBrowser
The 64 bit is at the bottom and I have had it crash several times. :(

then is there a way to run opera 32-bit version? (or will it crash on the 64-bit system?)

Well, it is a beta version.

Hopefully when the final comes out, there will be native 64b support.

i think some people already got the flash player running properly on Opera 9.50 beta2 [running on 64bit Ubuntu]

i can't get it running, for example :

also when i tried adobe flash player it says is only for 32bit systems, while i use 64bit :(
[i also have libflash-swfplayer installed in reprisotory]

You need nspluginwrapper for Flash on 64 bit systems - that's how I got mine working :)

i've just installed nspluginwrapper

do i need to play with some settings in Opera? 'cos the problem is still there :(

imho Opera cannot offer much for extension fans

but in performance it surely beats the others, also speed dial, history search (been ripped off by others) and opera link are powerful features.

firefox becomes a RAM monster after installing extensions!
