View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.04 Beta to 8.04 LTS

This may sound silly, but I'm just trying to double-check.

I have been using 8.04 Beta and updating regularly. I ran the update manager today and there are no new updates for my system. My kernel is at 2.6.24-16-generic.

As of this time, am I officially using 8.04 LTS? Or, must I do something to ensure I'm running 8.04 LTS?

Thank!

Not yet, until Ubuntu 8.04 is released or the servers have finished synching(which is unlikely until the announcement is given).

And Ubuntu 8.04 is released on the 24th, not the 23rd.

OK, so just running the Update Manager tomorrow (25th) morning will definitely put me at 8.04 LTS?

I thought the packages have been locked since Wednesday. I haven't had any updates since then.

I had the same "silly" question... But I am guessing that the way the update manager appears to function that us Beta users will be running LTS once those updates are loaded.

That is great. No need to do a reinstall.

That is what I was hoping for.

It definitely would.

Pumalite, there is a slight possibility, but it's best to be 100% sure.

Ubuntu Rocks!

Just wait until you've seen as many releases I have seen, it gets a bit boring.

Ubuntu 8.04 has just been released, so the servers should have synched, which means that they were synched quite a long time before release.

+1
I hope 8.10 will spice it up a little... lol
