Is VLC mozilla plugin usable or is it dead?

I looked around and cant find much info on how to make it work.
When it was installed all it said was no video.
And it caused firefox 3 frequent crashes.
Are there any guides, knowledge etc...?

jsut try the mplayer mozzila plugin.

I know, I use that.

But what about VLC plugin, surprised it is in the repos iff'n it don't work for anyone.

maybe its your system.

or it could be a download or install fault

are all dependencies good?

yes, it installed perfectly. I have gone thru fedora and several versions of ubuntu and never could get it to work. So perhaps the web site has to be setup to work with the plugin.
