View Full Version : [ubuntu] dual boot with Vista on second drive?

I tried doing a search for this, but the forums won't search for the word "second." Too common a word, it says.

I keep reading occasionally that people with two hard drives can dual boot Ubuntu and Vista. How does one do that? My sister is sick of Vista, but still needs it (Adobe CS suite and all that) but wants to try Ubuntu. I'd like to give her UbuntuStudio, but I don't think that matters.

Anyway, it's a fairly new laptop (Dec 07) with two hard drives and Vista installed on one already. Please walk me through setting this up so that Vista remains on the first drive, Ubuntu on the second, and an option to choose. (Or, if there are already tutorials, that'd be just dandy!)

Many many thanks!

You are better off installing both OS's in the first drive and keeping the second for storage or a separate /home.

you just need to run the installer normally but select use whole drive and make sure you select drive 2, not 1 :)

If you decide to install in 2nd drive, make sure you don't fall in this category:
