So I decided to order a new HD, the 80GB that came with my E1505N just wasn't big enough anymore - should be here friday.

Contemplating my upgrade/install options.

My first plan was to just 'dd' over my existing partitions, install grub, and drop in the new drive.

I'm contemplating, though, doing a fresh install of Hardy on the new drive, then copying over my /home & installing the extra packages that had installed previously (export the list, or just install 'em as I need them)

I figure worst case this way I wipe it out and dd over what's there and just run a dist-upgrade over the weekend. (I know better than to upgrade on release day - those servers get HAMMERED!)

Ideas, thoughts?

Added bonus: I can encrypt the entire HD via the installer option that was added with Gutsy (being that the existing install is the Dell Factory image from Feisty (7.04) that's been dist-upgraded to Gutsy (7.10).
