well i just wanted to burn an official release of ubuntu on cd, both kubuntu and ubuntu, not a beta verison and then try them out to see which i like more

You could do what i do and whip up a little script to see if the final hardy iso file exists on the server every half an hour ;) I did this for the last one so as soon as it was released it would automatically start downloading it.
The links would be:

x64 - http://releases.ubuntu.com/hardy/ubuntu-8.04-desktop-amd64.iso

Hey are they going to decrease the size to 700 MB ? because I just downloaded the latest RC for PPC and its 750.. that's 2 much since a lot of older PPC machines only have a optical drive.. plus then it wouldn't be Ubuntu ( 1 Disk ).

I just hope it fits a CD, I don't have a blank DVD and the stores are closed :p
What time zone is the release date based anyway, I imagine there are countries already in their fridays.

ubuntu is in the UK so what time would that be central time?
