I agree...that CD drive is like what my Windows 95 computer looked like! If they didn't want to copy Mac Mini with the white (which is what it looks like they're doing) why not use green or something?

black would be best yes. really - you make something small to make it unobtrusive, why not color it the same? and perhaps a slightly higher priced alternative for those that want pretty colours.

some people opt for old school in that way, but most people will not like that colour.

ideally you could choose from many colors when you buy it: the ugly white, black, green, blue, red, etc.

True enough, I just happen to like the off-taupe. Happy memories ;)

I think it looks neat, but I normally prefer to avoid any white-ish plastic. It usually turns to yellow after a few years.

A red and black scheme would look cool though :)
