First off, I am reasonably new to Linux although I do have some experience with it.
I have a Vaio FS315E laptop and have just installed Xubuntu 8.04 RC; generally it seems to be running well. However I am unable to change the brightness of the display. Also the special sony FN keys are not working.
I found a page on the community help pages, here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SonyVaioBrightness), explaining how to change the brightness, but it hasn't worked for me. I can install spicctrl fine however I am unable to change the value of -B.
I have also discovered that /proc/acpi/sony/ is not present on my pc, I'm assuming it should be there?
I've done some searches on the forums and on google but I cannot find a solution.
Note: sonypi and sony-laptop are both running on my pc. The FN keys still won't work when only one is running at a time.
Thanks!
